Iran injects $2.5 billion in stem cell research
Iranian Cord Blood Bank has announced that the Government of Iran will invest $2.5 billion in stem cell research over the next five years. Researchers are doing studies in almost all areas, from heart disease to multiple sclerosis.
“We will open stem cell research centers all over the country. Every major city will have such an institution.” says the director of ICBB. Despite being very conservative on some other issues, stem cell research is “okay” in Iran. Their government gives a blessing to all scientists working in these institutions.
